Little Rock, Ark. – Drivers across northern and eastern Arkansas faced dense fog early Wednesday, with visibility dropping below a quarter-mile in several areas and prompting a Dense Fog Advisory across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the advisory covers cities including Jonesboro, Mountain View, Searcy, and Fayetteville, and remains in effect through at least 10 a.m. CDT. The affected region spans from Fort Smith and Russellville eastward to Brinkley and West Memphis, with widespread fog significantly reducing visibility on major highways like I-40 and I-55.

Motorists in areas like Little Rock, Hardy, and Harrison are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time during the morning commute. The fog may persist in valley areas longer into the morning due to light winds and lingering humidity from recent rainfall.

This is the most widespread fog event in Arkansas in several weeks, particularly affecting river valleys and low-lying routes. NWS maps show a 50–80% chance of sub-quarter-mile visibility in many counties, especially in northeast Arkansas.

The Dense Fog Advisory is expected to expire mid-morning, but drivers should stay alert for updates from local law enforcement and the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
