Memphis, TN – Flood warnings remain in effect for parts of eastern Arkansas, with minor flooding reported along the L’Anguille River at Palestine and the Right Hand Chute Little River at Rivervale.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis, floodwaters have reached 25.1 feet on the L’Anguille River as of Thursday evening, just above the 25-foot flood stage. The river is expected to drop below flood levels shortly after midnight and continue receding through early next week. Agricultural land along the river remains affected.
Meanwhile, at Rivervale, the Right Hand Chute Little River stands at 13 feet, surpassing its 11-foot flood stage. Flooding has impacted thousands of acres of unprotected farmland, and some roads inside the levee system are covered with water. NWS forecasts the river will fall below flood stage by Monday afternoon.
Motorists are urged to avoid flooded roads and heed barricades. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains critical advice, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.
