Magnolia, Ark. – Heavy rain has triggered dangerous flash flooding across parts of southwest Arkansas this morning, putting roads and neighborhoods in Columbia, Lafayette and Union Counties at risk.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:30 a.m. CDT Sunday for communities including Magnolia, Stamps, McKamie, Taylor, Waldo, and Mount Holly. Floodwaters are rapidly rising, and emergency officials urge residents to move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through flooded areas.
High water is impacting roadways near U.S. Route 82 and Arkansas Highway 19, with potential threats to infrastructure and property in low-lying zones. Roughly 31,000 residents, 15 schools, and one hospital fall within the warning area, which stretches close to the Louisiana border, affecting morning travel and local services.
Residents should charge devices, stay indoors, and avoid unnecessary travel as scattered storms continue. This is the first major flooding threat of the month for the region, following a week of above-average rainfall.
Flash Flood Warnings remain in place until mid-morning. Additional watches or advisories may be issued if storms redevelop later today.
