Little Rock, AR – A flash flood warning is in effect for parts of central and north-central Arkansas, including Little Rock, Conway, and Batesville, as heavy rain continues to fall across the region. The National Weather Service in Little Rock issued the warning at 1:07 p.m. CST, cautioning residents about rapidly rising water levels in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, 1.5 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 1 to 2 inches expected before the warning expires at 5 p.m. CST. Radar indicates ongoing thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, leading to potential flash flooding in urban areas, highways, and small creeks.

Cities impacted include North Little Rock, Maumelle, Heber Springs, Clinton, and Greenbrier. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

Residents in affected areas should take precautions, including monitoring local alerts and seeking higher ground if needed. The risk of flooding remains high as additional rainfall moves through the state.
