Arkansas Flash Flood Warning: Heavy Rain Threatens Batesville, Newport Until 5 PM

Batesville, AR – A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for multiple counties in eastern and north-central Arkansas, including Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Independence, Izard, and Sharp counties, as heavy rain continues to fall. The warning remains active until 5 p.m. CST, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.

Radar data shows between 2 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen, with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible. Flash flooding is occurring or expected to begin soon, impacting roads, low-lying areas, and small streams.

According to the National Weather Service, affected areas include Batesville, Newport, Pocahontas, Walnut Ridge, Cherokee Village, and several other communities. Floodwaters could make travel hazardous, particularly in urban areas and along highways.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and seek higher ground if needed. Flash flooding can develop quickly, especially in areas with poor drainage.
