Little Rock, AR – Heavy snow continues to blanket Arkansas as a winter storm brings up to eight inches of accumulation across the state. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday, with northern and central areas receiving the heaviest snowfall.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock, snowfall totals range from 6–8 inches in central Arkansas, including areas around Russellville, with lighter accumulations of 1–3 inches in southern regions like Texarkana and El Dorado. Residents are advised to avoid travel as roads remain icy and hazardous. Major highways, including I-40 and I-30, are experiencing difficult conditions, with reports of slick patches and reduced visibility due to ongoing snowfall and mist.
The storm will taper off later Friday, with temperatures reaching a high of 34 degrees. However, additional snowfall of 1–3 inches is possible during the day before precipitation shifts to freezing rain. Overnight, conditions will improve as skies begin to clear and lows drop to 18 degrees.
Looking ahead, Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies and calmer winds, with highs around 36 degrees. The warming trend will continue into Sunday and Monday, with highs reaching 41 degrees under clear skies. Despite the improvement, residents should remain cautious of icy patches during the mornings as temperatures remain below freezing overnight.
