Little Rock, AR – Residents hoping for a white Christmas in Arkansas may need to adjust their plans as forecasters predict mild temperatures and rain instead of snow this year. The National Weather Service projects rain chances will increase on Christmas Eve, with showers continuing into Christmas Day, particularly across the southeastern part of the state.

According to the NWS, Christmas Day highs are expected to reach the upper 50s to mid-60s, much warmer than the seasonal average. Rain chances will be highest on Christmas Eve, creating potentially slick roads for holiday travelers. While rain is expected to taper off by mid-afternoon on Christmas Day, localized wet conditions could still linger.

The weather leading up to Christmas will remain mostly dry and cool. Highs will stay in the mid-40s to 50s through the weekend, with lows dipping into the 30s at night. By Monday night, a new weather system will bring showers, setting the stage for the wet holiday ahead.

Travelers are urged to stay informed on the latest weather updates and drive cautiously if rain impacts visibility or road conditions. Santa may not need snow boots in Arkansas this year, but an umbrella is highly recommended.
