Little Rock, AR – A winter storm watch has been issued for much of Arkansas, with heavy snow expected Thursday through Friday.

The National Weather Service announced early Tuesday that snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches are possible, with even higher totals forecast for parts of southwest Arkansas and the Ouachita Mountains. The storm is expected to begin Thursday afternoon and last into Friday morning, potentially causing significant disruptions to Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

According to the alert, affected areas include central, north-central, southeast, southwest, and western Arkansas. The hazardous road conditions could make travel difficult, especially in higher elevation regions.

Local officials recommend preparing for the storm by stocking up on essentials and avoiding unnecessary travel once snowfall begins. Residents are also encouraged to monitor weather updates and follow road safety advisories.

Arkansas has already seen mild winter weather this season, but this storm could bring the most significant snowfall so far.
