Little Rock, AR – Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and a sharp drop in temperatures are set to impact Arkansas this weekend and into next week. A flood watch remains in effect through Saturday evening as 1 to 3 inches of additional rain could cause flash flooding.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock, severe storms will continue through Saturday, with strong wind gusts and localized heavy rainfall. By Sunday, conditions will clear, but a powerful Arctic front will move in Monday night, bringing bitter cold and a wintry mix Tuesday. Highs will plunge from the 60s to the 30s by early next week, with wind chills dipping into single digits in northern areas.
Motorists are advised to watch for water-covered roads and rapidly changing conditions. Tuesday’s wintry mix could create hazardous travel, especially on bridges and overpasses. Wind gusts up to 30 mph could reduce visibility and worsen road conditions.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain below normal for much of next week. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions and monitor updates from local officials.
