Shreveport, LA – With persistently hot and dry conditions, burn bans are now in effect across several parishes in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. High temperatures are forecasted to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s today, elevating the risk of fire hazards. Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning as bans are enforced to prevent potential wildfires.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, temperatures will peak near 90 degrees across northern Louisiana, with cooler but still warm conditions expected overnight, dipping only to the mid-60s. This elevated heat, paired with dry weather, has prompted authorities in Caddo Parish and other areas to implement burn bans immediately.

Affected areas include Union, Columbia, and Sevier counties in Arkansas, and Harrison and Smith counties in Texas. In these regions, outdoor burning is strictly prohibited until further notice. Officials are urging residents to adhere to the restrictions and remain vigilant to reduce fire risks. Violating burn bans could result in fines or legal action, as the bans remain in place until conditions improve.

This unseasonable warmth is expected to persist, with Sunday’s highs predicted to be just as severe. Outdoor plans should be carefully considered, and residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activities during peak heat hours. Local fire departments recommend keeping water hoses or fire extinguishers nearby and clearing debris around homes to minimize potential fire hazards.
