Shreveport, Louisiana – Strong thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to impact portions of northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas through Thursday evening, with the greatest risk centered around Shreveport, Longview, and Tyler.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Flood Watch remains in effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday. Rainfall totals are expected between 1 to 3 inches, with isolated pockets exceeding 4 inches. A Level 1 severe weather threat also covers southern and western zones of the Ark-La-Tex region today, where strong storms may bring damaging wind gusts over 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters.
Cities including Nacogdoches, Lufkin, and Texarkana are under threat for flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas and along creeks, rivers, and poor-drainage roadways. Commuters should avoid water-covered roads and have alternate routes in place. Power outages may also occur in storm-prone zones.
