Tucson, AZ – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for several mountain ranges in southeastern Arizona, with significant snowfall and strong winds expected Friday. Higher elevations above 7,000 feet could see up to 9 inches of snow, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, snow is forecast to begin just before sunrise Friday and continue into the afternoon, with periods of heavy snowfall possible. Winds gusting up to 35 mph could lead to reduced visibility due to blowing snow. Impacted areas include the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, White Mountains of Graham and Greenlee Counties, as well as the Galiuro and Pinaleno Mountains, including Mount Graham.

Travelers should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility in these higher elevations. Officials advise slowing down and using caution while driving. The advisory remains in effect from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST Friday.

For those traveling through affected regions, checking road conditions in advance is recommended. Arizona residents can call 511 or visit www.az511.gov for real-time updates on road conditions.

Residents and visitors should take necessary precautions and plan accordingly for winter weather impacts throughout the day on Friday.
