Flagstaff, AZ – A strong winter storm is set to bring heavy snow and dangerous travel conditions to Flagstaff and surrounding areas starting Friday. Drivers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility as snowfall intensifies.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday. Snowfall could reach 6 to 8 inches in Flagstaff, with gusty winds up to 45 mph making conditions even more treacherous. Higher elevations may see heavier snowfall, while roads, bridges, and overpasses could become icy.
Travel is not recommended, especially during the Friday morning and evening commutes. Those needing to travel should check az511.gov for road conditions and closures.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain cold through the weekend, with highs in the 40s and lows dipping into the teens. Sunshine is expected to return by Saturday, providing some relief.
Stay updated with local forecasts and take precautions if heading out. Slow down, allow extra travel time, and stay informed about changing conditions.
