Flagstaff, AZ – Northern Arizona residents may wake up to a dusting of snow on Christmas morning as light snowfall is forecast. Areas above 6,500 feet, including Flagstaff, are expected to see precipitation starting Tuesday night, creating the possibility of a White Christmas for the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Flagstaff, light snow showers will move in Tuesday evening, with accumulation of up to one inch in some locations. Snowfall is expected to taper off by Christmas morning, leaving roads potentially slick. Travel along I-40 and State Route 89 may be affected during this time.

Tuesday night’s low will drop to 28°F, with rain transitioning to snow as temperatures fall. Wind gusts of up to 16 mph could reduce visibility, especially in higher elevations. Residents planning holiday travel are advised to monitor road conditions closely and prepare for possible delays.

The holiday weather will also bring colder temperatures on Christmas Day, with a high near 45°F. While the snow showers are expected to be light, NWS warns that untreated roads and sidewalks may freeze overnight, creating hazardous conditions for drivers and pedestrians.

Looking ahead, temperatures are forecast to remain chilly through the week, with another slight chance of snow late Thursday night into Friday morning. Highs will stay in the mid-40s, with overnight lows dipping into the teens.
