Flagstaff, AZ – Snow showers and gusty winds are creating challenging conditions across Flagstaff today as a low-pressure system moves through northern Arizona. Blowing snow and wind gusts up to 36 mph may reduce visibility, especially along I-40 and other high-elevation roadways.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there’s a 30% chance of snow showers through late morning, with less than half an inch of accumulation expected. Winds from the northeast will reach speeds of up to 31 mph, making travel difficult in exposed areas. Drivers are urged to proceed with caution, particularly on I-40 and I-17, and allow extra travel time.

Temperatures will remain near freezing, with a high of 36°F today. Overnight, conditions will clear, but temperatures will drop to 14°F, with wind chills nearing single digits. Thursday will bring sunny skies but breezy conditions, with gusts as high as 36 mph in the afternoon.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will remain sunny with daytime highs of 43°F and 46°F, respectively. However, nighttime lows will plunge to the teens, continuing the risk of icy roads in the early mornings.

Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items and dress warmly to protect against wind chills. Those traveling through mountain passes should check updated road conditions and prepare for possible delays.
