Flagstaff, AZ – Arizona could see several record-high temperatures before cooler air moves in on Sunday. The National Weather Service reports that certain areas of the state may break record highs on Saturday, April 12, as a warm weather disturbance moves across the region. By Sunday, however, conditions will shift, bringing a cooler air mass and winds.
Highs are forecast to reach 91°F in Camp Verde, challenging its record of 97°F. Flagstaff will experience a high of 72°F, a close match to its 75°F record. Phantom Ranch, in the Grand Canyon, could see a scorching 95°F, just short of its 94°F record. Other areas, like Prescott Airport and Payson, are also expecting near-record temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat will subside with the incoming cooler system by Sunday, with some areas dropping to the low 80s. Winds will pick up as the weather disturbance moves in, which is typical for this time of year.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions against the heat, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
