Phoenix, Arizona – Triple-digit temperatures blanketed much of southern Arizona Friday, with Phoenix climbing to 104°F and several desert cities surpassing 102°F. Forecasters warn the region could see even hotter days ahead, with some spots flirting with 110°F by late Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, June 6 highs were generally a few degrees above average for early summer, especially in lower desert communities like Gila Bend (102°F), Yuma (102°F), and Blythe (103°F). Mesa, El Centro, and Casa Grande also cracked 100°F, continuing a stretch of intense early-June heat.

In Deer Valley, temperatures briefly dipped below the triple-digit mark at 99°F, but forecasters expect warming to intensify. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

With excessive heat building into Sunday and Monday, officials may issue advisories across Maricopa and Yuma counties. Heat-sensitive infrastructure, such as power grids and roadways, could be strained, especially during evening hours.

Warnings may be expanded this weekend as temperatures climb toward 110°F. Stay tuned to NWS updates and limit outdoor exposure.
