Flagstaff, AZ – Strong winds and dry skies are set to shape the weekend across northern Arizona, with gusts near 36 mph expected Friday afternoon in Flagstaff. Motorists along I-17 and I-40 should prepare for reduced visibility and gusty crosswinds as early as midday.

According to the National Weather Service, southwest winds will pick up Friday after 11 a.m., reaching 10 to 15 mph with gusts increasing to 22 mph by afternoon. Stronger gusts up to 36 mph could affect travel safety through early evening. Skies will remain partly sunny with a high near 59°F. Friday night brings clearer skies and lighter winds with lows dipping to 29°F.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy, with southwest winds between 7 to 14 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. Drivers, especially high-profile vehicles, should use caution on open stretches of highway, including interstates and rural roads.

The weekend forecast brings calmer conditions. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 58°F. Winds will still be noticeable, peaking around 31 mph, but much less intense than Friday. Sunday continues the sunny trend, with highs near 58°F and wind gusts up to 28 mph.

Looking ahead to next week, Flagstaff stays dry with temperatures warming to 61°F by Tuesday. A slight chance of showers returns Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 31 mph. Residents should stay alert for updates and secure loose outdoor items through Friday evening.
