Phoenix, Arizona – Dangerous heat is set to scorch the Valley this week, with temperatures climbing as high as 114°F by midweek — triggering an Extreme Heat Watch and raising health concerns for residents and commuters alike.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, the Extreme Heat Watch begins Tuesday morning and continues through Thursday evening, with afternoon highs ranging from 110°F to 116°F. The affected area includes all of Maricopa County, including Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Avondale, and surrounding suburbs.

Major heat risks include heat cramps, exhaustion, and life-threatening heat stroke. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, wear loose clothing, and hydrate often. Cooling centers are open across the Phoenix metro; dial 2-1-1 for the nearest location.

Work crews along I-10 and Loop 101 should expect altered schedules, as OSHA recommends shifting physical labor to early mornings or evenings. Public safety officials urge drivers to keep emergency water in vehicles and check backseats for children or pets.

Air quality will also deteriorate Monday as an Ozone High Pollution Advisory takes effect. Sensitive groups — including children, seniors, and those with respiratory issues — should stay indoors and limit activity.
