Flagstaff, AZ – Spring sunshine in northern Arizona comes with a gusty twist this week as strong winds return Tuesday morning across Flagstaff.

According to the National Weather Service, Flagstaff is expected to see wind gusts reaching 28 mph Tuesday beginning around 10 a.m. Calm conditions Monday night, with a low near 31°F, will give way to southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph Tuesday, building throughout the day. Residents and drivers along I-17 should prepare for reduced visibility and minor travel disruptions due to dust and strong gusts.

Tuesday’s high will reach near 68°F under sunny skies. Winds will continue into Tuesday night, gusting as high as 18 mph before calming slightly overnight with lows near 33°F. These gusty spring patterns are typical but can still pose hazards, particularly for high-profile vehicles on open roads like U.S. Route 180 and State Route 89A.

By Wednesday, sunny skies remain with a high near 73°F and more manageable northwest winds around 5 to 10 mph. Expect clear, chilly nights throughout the week, including Wednesday night with a low near 40°F.

  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high of 75°F with winds near 24 mph.
  • Saturday: Breezy and warmer, high near 72°F with gusts up to 26 mph.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, slightly cooler at 68°F. Winds gusting to 31 mph.
