Flagstaff, Arizona – Snow, thunderstorms, and 40 mph gusts could disrupt travel across northern Arizona Monday night, creating slick roads and spring storm hazards.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, a system moving through Monday will bring rain turning to snow by 9 p.m., with a 90% chance of precipitation and snow accumulations under half an inch expected overnight. Winds will gust as high as 40 mph, especially along I-40 and U.S. Route 180. Thunderstorms are also possible, making for a volatile evening commute and hazardous driving into early Tuesday.

Rain is expected to linger into Tuesday morning before tapering off, followed by another chance for snow showers Tuesday night with lows around 31°F. While accumulation will be light, refreezing could lead to patchy ice, especially on untreated surfaces and higher elevations.

Wednesday offers a brief break with dry and mostly sunny skies returning — but chilly spring mornings will persist. By Thursday, milder temperatures in the 60s return, climbing into the 70s by Friday and Saturday as calmer spring weather finally settles in.

⚠️ 5-Day Flagstaff Spring Weather Outlook (May 5–9):

Wednesday: Mostly clear, high 59°F.
