Tucson, AZ – Tucson has officially shattered its 1924 heat record, with 127 consecutive days of temperatures above 90°F. The streak ended today, surpassing the previous mark of 126 days set 100 years ago. However, relief is in sight as a low-pressure system is expected to bring temperatures below 90°F by Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 90% chance of temperatures dropping to 89°F or below tomorrow. The cooling trend will continue into the weekend, with highs forecasted to be 84°F on Saturday and 90°F on Sunday, bringing much-needed relief to local residents and motorists dealing with sweltering conditions on Tucson roadways, especially around Interstate 10.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to remain cooler for the next few days, but a rebound into the mid-90s is anticipated by midweek. Residents should stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to heat until the cooler weather arrives.
