Phoenix, Ariz. – Parts of the Phoenix metro area could see dangerously high temperatures topping 115 degrees beginning Tuesday morning, prompting an Extreme Heat Watch across central Arizona through Thursday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, the heat watch covers much of Maricopa and Pinal counties—including Phoenix, Mesa, Buckeye, Scottsdale, and Apache Junction—from 10 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Thursday. Afternoon highs are expected to range from 110° to 115°, creating a “Major Heat Risk” for outdoor workers, the elderly, and anyone without access to air conditioning.
Cities across the Valley—including Avondale, Glendale, and Queen Creek—may experience the most intense heat of the summer so far. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours, wear loose-fitting clothing, and stay hydrated. Employers are advised to schedule frequent shaded breaks for outdoor crews.
Cooling centers are open across Maricopa County. Residents can call 2-1-1 for information on free transportation, water distribution points, and shelter locations. Heat stroke symptoms include confusion, dry skin, and unconsciousness—call 911 immediately if signs appear.
The heat watch remains in effect through Thursday night. Additional warnings may be issued if conditions intensify.
