Phoenix, Ariz. – Extreme heat will bake much of central and southwest Arizona starting Saturday morning, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 114°F across the Phoenix metro, triggering an urgent warning for residents.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Monday, covering Maricopa County, Pinal County, and parts of Yuma and La Paz counties, as well as adjacent areas of southeast California. Cities including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Buckeye, Gila Bend, Yuma, and Blythe could see dangerous daytime highs between 105°F and 115°F.
Health officials urge residents to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours and use cooling centers where available. In Maricopa County, residents can call 2-1-1 or visit maricopa.gov/heat to find free cooling centers, water stations, and transportation options.
Outdoor workers are advised to hydrate regularly, take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces, and watch for signs of heat-related illness. Heat stroke symptoms—confusion, rapid pulse, and loss of consciousness—require immediate medical attention.
The heat warning could be extended if temperatures remain high into early next week.
