Houston, TX – A powerful cold front will bring freezing temperatures and gusty winds to southeast Texas, creating hazardous conditions overnight Sunday into Monday.
The National Weather Service warns that a Hard Freeze Warning will take effect at midnight and last until 9 a.m. Monday. Temperatures are expected to dip as low as 22 degrees in Houston, with wind chills dropping to single digits in some areas. A Wind Advisory is also active until midnight, with gusts reaching 35 mph.
These conditions could pose risks to plants, pets, and plumbing. Residents should wrap pipes, bring pets indoors, and use portable heaters with caution. Strong winds may cause minor power outages and make driving difficult, particularly on Interstate 45 and local bridges.
Freezing conditions are forecast to improve by late Monday morning, but lingering cold temperatures will still demand caution. Prepare now to secure outdoor objects, protect your property, and bundle up when heading outside.
