Houston, TX – An Arctic cold front is set to sweep across Southeast Texas on Tuesday night, bringing freezing temperatures and dangerous wind chills through Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston, lows could drop to 22°F in Houston, with wind chills as low as 12°F by Wednesday night. Areas including Baytown, Galveston, and Conroe will experience similar frigid conditions, with temperatures remaining below freezing until the end of the week.
Residents are urged to take precautions by insulating pipes, bringing pets indoors, and protecting vulnerable individuals. The NWS recommends covering exposed skin, dressing in layers, and allowing faucets to drip to prevent freezing.
Power outages are possible as temperatures plummet, and residents should prepare accordingly. Southeast Texas last experienced similar conditions during the February 2021 freeze that caused widespread disruptions.
