Burlington, VT – Bitter cold continues to grip Vermont with sub-zero wind chills and snow showers forecast through Thursday morning. Residents are urged to dress warmly as prolonged exposure can lead to frostbite or hypothermia.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, Wednesday night will see temperatures drop into the single digits, with wind chills as low as -15°F in many areas. Snow showers are expected to taper off by Thursday morning, with light accumulations of up to one inch. However, gusty winds will make conditions feel significantly colder.

Northwest winds up to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph, will make travel hazardous on key routes like Interstate 89 and Route 7. Reduced visibility during snow showers could impact commuting hours. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and carry emergency supplies in case of delays.

Thursday will remain cloudy, with a high near 21°F, but the biting wind will continue to keep wind chills well below freezing. Overnight into Friday, temperatures will fall to 14°F. Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures will gradually climb, with highs nearing 26°F by Saturday, though light snow is again possible.

Residents should wear multiple layers, cover exposed skin, and avoid outdoor activity for extended periods. To stay safe, check on neighbors, ensure pets are indoors, and monitor local weather updates.

Stay tuned for additional advisories as conditions evolve.
