Fort Worth, TX – North and Central Texas are bracing for an Arctic cold front set to arrive Sunday night, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. Residents along the I-35 corridor can expect lows in the 20s with wind chills plummeting into the teens, creating potentially hazardous conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs on Monday will struggle to climb above 40 degrees. Morning wind chills on Monday and Tuesday may drop as low as 6 to 14 degrees, with gusty northwest winds up to 40 mph likely. A Wind Advisory may also be issued for parts of the region.
By midweek, forecasters are monitoring a potential wintry mix late Thursday into early Friday, with light rain or snow accumulations possible. While road impacts are uncertain, drivers should remain vigilant for icy patches, particularly in rural areas or on elevated roadways.
Daytime highs from Monday through Wednesday will remain in the upper 30s to low 40s, while overnight lows hover in the low to mid-20s. The cold snap will persist through Friday, so residents should take immediate precautions by insulating pipes, covering outdoor plants, and ensuring pets are sheltered.
The weather service recommends monitoring updates, as conditions could worsen depending on the Arctic air’s trajectory.
