Anchorage, AK — Anchorage has already exceeded its average annual precipitation of 16.42 inches, with 16.55 inches recorded so far this year. Residents should brace for more rain this week as forecasts predict continuing wet conditions. The National Weather Service has issued advisories for potential localized flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, Anchorage’s rainfall this year has already surpassed previous years like 1989, 2013, and 2022. Tuesday evening’s forecast brings added interest, as the city will also witness a rare partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse, which coincides with the Harvest Supermoon, will begin at 8:41 p.m. and peak around 10:44 p.m.

Residents are advised to remain cautious on slick roads as the rain continues through the week, with accumulations likely to impact commutes and outdoor activities. For those hoping to catch the Supermoon, the skies may clear briefly in the evening, but intermittent showers could still obstruct views.
