Amarillo, Texas – After several days of cooler temperatures and rain, the region will experience a significant shift as warm, sunny conditions return. Beginning Thursday, May 8, high temperatures will gradually rise across the Texas Panhandle, with daytime highs reaching the mid-80s by Sunday, May 11.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, the warm-up will persist through next week, with temperatures in the area expected to soar into the low 90s by Monday, May 12. Cities like Borger, Dalhart, and Canadian are all forecasted to experience similarly rising temperatures, with highs pushing into the mid-80s and 90s.

In addition to higher temperatures, the warming trend will also increase the potential for heat-related impacts. Local authorities recommend residents take precautions, including staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities during peak afternoon heat.

This gradual warming will extend through the middle of next week, possibly bringing even higher temperatures by Wednesday, May 14. The National Weather Service urges people to monitor local forecasts for further updates and additional heat advisories.
