Amarillo, TX – The National Weather Service in Amarillo reports that October 2025 was both warmer and drier than normal across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, continuing a trend of below-average precipitation heading into early November.
Average temperatures across key reporting sites ranged from the low to mid-60s, running 3 to 4 degrees above seasonal norms. Rainfall was well below normal, with each site recording at least a half-inch deficit for the month.

- Amarillo: 63.0°F (+3.8°) | 1.00” rain (−0.75”)
- Borger: 64.6°F (+3.3°) | 0.36” rain (−1.29”)
- Dalhart: 60.3°F (+3.2°) | 0.93” rain (−0.71”)
- Guymon (OK): 61.5°F (+3.5°) | 1.19” rain (−0.56”)
According to the NWS, Borger recorded the sharpest rainfall shortfall, missing more than 1.25 inches compared to its typical October totals.
This ongoing warm and dry pattern is expected to persist into early November, continuing concerns for dry soil and limited moisture recovery across the region.
Residents are advised to remain mindful of elevated fire danger and conserve water where possible, as rainfall chances remain limited in the short-term forecast.
