Albany, NY – Breezy and dry weather conditions across the Capital District and surrounding areas have heightened the risk of fire spread today and into the weekend. According to the National Weather Service, while no Red Flag Warning is in place, outdoor burning remains dangerous due to gusty winds and low humidity, particularly affecting regions from Albany southward.

Residents are urged to avoid any outdoor burning, especially when winds pick up or humidity drops, which is expected today and Friday. With wind gusts reaching up to 25 mph and humidity levels as low as 30%, small fires can quickly spread, endangering homes and property. Those in the Catskills, Taconics, and Mid-Hudson Valley should be especially vigilant.

The extended weather forecast predicts mostly sunny conditions through Friday with cooler temperatures. Friday’s high will be near 59°F, followed by a chance of showers on Saturday afternoon. The weekend will stay cool, with temperatures dropping to the low 30s by Sunday night.
