A Freeze Warning has been issued for much of the Capital District, Glens Falls/Saratoga Region, and the mid-Hudson Valley, effective late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s, marking the potential end of the growing season for much of the area.
According to the National Weather Service, the freeze warning will affect areas such as Albany, Poughkeepsie, Gloversville, and Saratoga Springs, where temperatures will fall as low as 28°F. Sensitive plants left unprotected may be damaged or killed by the freezing conditions. Residents are urged to cover or bring plants indoors to protect them from the overnight chill.
In addition, frost advisories are in place for regions near the lakes, where temperatures will hover around freezing, but frost formation is likely. The cold snap is expected to linger through Thursday morning before daytime highs return to the 50s and 60s.
The NWS also predicts another cold night heading into Friday, with temperatures in some areas expected to dip below freezing again. However, a slow warming trend is anticipated over the weekend, with temperatures climbing back into the 60s and even 70s by Saturday and Sunday.
