Fairbanks, AK – A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the Dalton Highway Summits and Upper Koyukuk Valley through 7 AM AKDT on Saturday, April 12, 2025, as heavy snow and gusty winds are expected to impact travel across these regions.
According to the National Weather Service, both areas could see snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches, with rates potentially reaching 1 inch per hour this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph, further complicating travel conditions. The highest snowfall totals are expected near Allakaket in the Upper Koyukuk Valley.
Travel across these areas could be hazardous, with poor visibility and slick roads. Officials advise drivers to stay off the roads if possible, as conditions may make travel very difficult or even impossible.
