Birmingham, AL – A cold but sunny day is ahead for Alabama on Thursday, with freezing temperatures lingering overnight across the region. Residents are advised to bundle up tonight as lows drop to the upper 20s and low 30s, especially in northern and central areas.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will bring clear skies and highs in the low to mid-50s across Alabama. Birmingham can expect a high near 52°F, while areas like Tuscaloosa and Montgomery will reach 53°F and 57°F, respectively. Overnight lows will hover near freezing, making frost likely in rural and exposed areas.

Looking ahead, Friday will remain sunny with highs near 51°F, but a cooling trend will set in over the weekend. By Saturday, highs will drop to the mid-40s, and rain chances will increase late Sunday, with a 40% chance of showers expected by nightfall.

Drivers are urged to watch for frost on roadways early Thursday morning, particularly on highways like I-20 and I-65, as freezing temperatures could make surfaces slick. Prepare for a chilly start to each day this week by dressing in layers.
