Huntsville, Alabama – Sunny skies will dominate early this week across northern Alabama, but drivers and outdoor workers should prepare for a soggy second half as thunderstorms roll in by Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s Monday and Tuesday with mostly sunny skies. A shift begins Wednesday, when scattered afternoon thunderstorms are expected to develop, increasing in coverage through Friday. Rain chances climb sharply by Thursday, with highs holding near 89°F and lows in the upper 60s.

Residents in Madison, Limestone, and Morgan counties should anticipate potential disruptions to commutes and outdoor plans late in the week. Localized flooding in low-lying areas and brief gusty winds are possible with stronger cells. Forecasters advise charging electronic devices and staying weather-aware, especially during peak afternoon hours.

This stretch marks one of the more active weather periods since mid-May, and could bring over an inch of rain to parts of the region before the weekend. Updates will be issued daily as timing and storm strength become clearer.

Warnings and rain chances remain in effect through Friday afternoon.
