Huntsville, AL – Cooler temperatures and sunny skies are headed for northern Alabama starting Thursday, bringing a welcome break from the recent rain. Residents can expect crisp afternoons in the 40s and 50s, but overnight lows will dip into the 20s and 30s, marking a chilly shift for the Tennessee Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, Thursday will kick off the cooler trend with mostly sunny conditions and highs reaching 52°F. North winds will calm through the day, setting the stage for a quiet evening with lows around 30°F. By Friday, temperatures will drop slightly, with highs in the upper 40s and clear, breezy conditions continuing.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will see sunny skies and colder daytime highs around 44°F. Residents should brace for frigid overnight temperatures, which could fall as low as 26°F by Saturday night. Sunday brings a slight warm-up, with highs nearing 48°F under mostly sunny skies.

Drivers in Huntsville should take extra precautions during early morning commutes, as the combination of chilly air and any residual moisture could lead to slick patches on roadways, especially in shaded areas or over bridges. Those planning outdoor activities this weekend are advised to dress in layers and prepare for significant temperature drops in the evening hours.

The extended forecast shows little chance of rain through early next week, with temperatures gradually warming by Monday.
