Wichita, KS – Central and southern Kansas will see a surge of warm, above-average temperatures starting Wednesday. The National Weather Service reports that temperatures will rise throughout the week, with highs reaching the upper 80s and low 90s. Residents should prepare for a significant change in the weather, as conditions will stay hot through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, highs on Thursday could approach the mid-90s, especially in southern Kansas. Friday and Saturday will also be warm, with temperatures ranging from 91 to 94 degrees. Breezy conditions on Wednesday may provide slight relief, but the heat is expected to build.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions against the heat, staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours. The extended forecast shows temperatures easing slightly by Sunday, though still remaining in the 80s. The heatwave could pose challenges for those without air conditioning or those planning outdoor events this weekend.
