Central Illinois – A localized snow band could bring light snow accumulations north of Interstate 70 on Wednesday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reports a narrow corridor north of I-70 may see over 1 inch of snow. This weather system will primarily deliver rain and snow across the region but minimal accumulation is expected elsewhere. The chance of snowfall exceeding 1 inch remains low, estimated between 10% and 20%.
According to the NWS, minor travel impacts are possible in areas where the snow band develops. Drivers should prepare for slick conditions and monitor updates. Most areas in central Illinois will experience little to no snowfall. The localized snow is expected to develop late Wednesday and taper off overnight.
Residents north of I-70, including towns like Pontiac and Bloomington, should remain cautious. The forecast suggests this is an isolated event with no major disruptions anticipated. However, small changes in the storm’s track could shift snow coverage.
Stay tuned to weather updates as this system evolves.
