Kansas Faces Scorching Heat, Quarter-Sized Hail Possible

Wichita, KS – The US National Weather Service in Wichita has issued warnings for Kansas residents to prepare for a period of intense heat and possible quarter-sized hail. The severe weather is expected to peak on Monday and Tuesday with the hottest temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service, strong to marginally severe storms could develop this evening through early tonight. Locations east of a Salina to Wichita to Arkansas City line are at risk. The main threats include downburst winds of 50 to 60 mph and hail ranging from dime to quarter size. The service advises residents to monitor forecasts closely and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

The forecast for today predicts highs between 95 and 99 degrees with possible strong storms east of I-135. Sunday and Monday will see temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s. Severe weather and high temperatures are expected on Tuesday. Residents are urged to take safety measures to handle the extreme heat and potential severe storms effectively.
