Platteville, Wis. — Bourbonnais native Arianna Lombardi has been named to the 2023 All-WIAC Women’s Soccer Team. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville junior has rapidly risen to prominence in her first season with the Pioneers, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination on the field.
Lombardi, an offensive dynamo, led the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in numerous categories, showcasing her versatility and competitive edge. With a total of 9 goals, she was the conference’s top scorer. Her overall contribution of 24 points, 69 shots, and 34 shots on goal not only underscored her scoring ability but also her relentless offensive pressure. Additionally, Lombardi provided six assists, tying for second place in the WIAC.
Her season was punctuated by several standout performances. The highlight came early when she scored three goals in a single match against Concordia Chicago, a rare feat known as a hat trick. Lombardi also played a pivotal role in securing victories for the Pioneers, scoring game-winning goals in tight 1-0 matches against UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater.
As she looks forward to her senior year, expectations are high for this rising star in the world of college soccer.
