Fourth of July Safety Tips from the New Lenox Fire Protection District
Summertime is here and the Fourth of July is less than a week away. Block parties, summer cook-outs and other outdoor fun is on tap for the upcoming holiday. However, more fires are reported on July 4th than any other day of the year in the United States. Nearly half of those fires are caused by fireworks.

NHRA Nationals Return to Route 66 Raceway for four days of Drag Racing
To kick the weekend off, the first-ever Burnout on the Bases Softball game will take place Thursday evening, featuring the Joliet Slammers, City of Joliet celebrities and NHRA drivers and dignitaries as they tear it up on the bases to celebrate the Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Joliet’s Route 66 Stadium.
