Saint Meinrad: State Road 62 Closing for Culvert Projects

Saint Meinrad, IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has issued a formal notice regarding the upcoming closure of State Road 62 in Perry County. The closure, which is slated to begin on or around Monday, September 21, 2026, is necessary to facilitate three scheduled culvert replacement projects.

Work crews will focus the reconstruction efforts on the stretch of road located near Saint Meinrad, specifically between State Road 145 and Carleton Road. Officials expect the project to take approximately one week to complete, though they noted that the timeline remains dependent on prevailing weather conditions.

To navigate around the construction zone, motorists are encouraged to use the designated detour route. Travelers should utilize State Road 145, connect to I-64, and transition to State Road 162. INDOT confirmed that local traffic will continue to have access to properties up to the point of closure.

"INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones," the department stated in a release. Safety remains the primary concern for the personnel working on the road, and adhering to posted signs is essential for both the workers and the public.

Drivers are encouraged to plan their travel routes in advance to account for potential delays. Further updates will be provided should the schedule for the road closure require adjustments due to unforeseen circumstances.
