Hall County Sheriff Announces Staff Firings After Security Audit

Hall County, GA – Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch announced today that an internal audit of the agency's Flock Safety system resulted in the termination or resignation of seven employees. The investigation uncovered unauthorized use of the surveillance technology within the department.

According to Sheriff Gerald Couch, the internal review identified 85 suspicious searches performed within the system. The discovery prompted immediate personnel action, leading to the departure of the seven staff members involved in the improper queries. The Sheriff confirmed that criminal referrals have been issued regarding the findings.

The agency released the statement on September 4, 2026, to address concerns regarding the integrity of the Flock Safety system. Those involved in the unauthorized searches allegedly abused their access to the surveillance tools, necessitating the swift administrative response.
