According to the National Weather Service, Grand Junction is expected to hit 88 degrees through Memorial Day with mostly sunny skies and only isolated afternoon thunderstorm chances. Conditions stay warm Monday before a more unsettled pattern develops Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
Drivers along Interstate 70 from Fruita through Clifton should see favorable travel weather through much of the holiday stretch. Outdoor events, hiking trails near Colorado National Monument, and rafting traffic along the Colorado River are expected to remain busy under dry conditions.
Tuesday brings the biggest weather shift of the week. Moisture pushing into western Colorado may trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms by afternoon. Rain chances climb toward 70 percent around Grand Junction, especially near higher terrain south and east of Mesa County. Brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and isolated lightning could affect evening travel and outdoor recreation.
Temperatures also cool noticeably Tuesday, dropping nearly 10 degrees from the holiday heat. Highs fall back into the upper 70s before sunshine and warmer air return by Wednesday and Thursday.
