Albany, New York – Dry roads this morning will turn slick within hours as rain spreads into eastern New York this afternoon, potentially slowing travel across major corridors by the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a chilly start in the 20s and 30s will give way to increasing clouds, with rain developing by mid to late afternoon—generally between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.—especially southeast of Albany, including the mid-Hudson Valley and areas toward Pittsfield and Bennington.
High temperatures will reach the upper 40s to mid-50s across the region, including Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Glens Falls, before dropping quickly after sunset. Rain continues into the evening and overnight, with a 70–90% chance of showers keeping roads wet along I-87, I-90, and I-88 through late night.
Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and slick pavement during peak travel hours. Use headlights in rain, slow down on curves and ramps, and watch for standing water in low-lying areas.
Rain tapers off overnight, with clearing expected Sunday and improving conditions regionwide. Additional updates are expected this afternoon as timing and coverage of rain become more precise.
