Shreveport, Louisiana – Warm and mostly quiet conditions this afternoon will quickly give way to a more dangerous setup tonight, as severe storms develop after sunset and threaten travel and power infrastructure across the Ark-La-Tex.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, only isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected through the daytime hours, with rain chances generally between 10% and 30%. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to near 90 degrees by late afternoon, increasing instability ahead of a stronger evening storm system.

Cities including Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview, and Nacogdoches will see conditions shift rapidly after 7 to 9 p.m., when storms are expected to intensify. Major corridors such as Interstate 20 and Interstate 30 could experience sudden hazardous conditions, including heavy rain, reduced visibility, and debris. Strong storms may produce wind gusts over 70 mph, large hail, and isolated tornadoes overnight.

Residents should use the quieter daytime window to prepare by charging devices, securing outdoor items, and reviewing shelter plans. Avoid unnecessary travel late tonight, especially as storms move through after dark when visibility is lowest.

The severe threat will continue into the overnight hours before gradually weakening early Sunday morning. Additional watches and warnings are likely this evening as conditions evolve.
