Albany, New York – Heavy snow and ice will begin falling by 10 a.m. Friday across the southern Adirondacks and southern Vermont, with up to 10 inches expected by 1 p.m. Saturday, creating dangerous travel for the evening and Saturday morning commutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Hamilton and Warren counties in New York and Windham County, Vermont, along with elevations above 1,500 feet in Bennington County. Total snowfall will range from 7 to 10 inches, with higher terrain in Bennington County seeing 6 to 10 inches. Ice accumulations around 0.10 inches could coat bridges and overpasses.
Snowfall rates may reach 0.5 to 1 inch per hour this evening into the overnight hours, especially across northern Warren County and Windham County.

Drivers along Interstate 87 near Glens Falls, Route 9 through Warrensburg, and Vermont Route 9 near Bennington should expect snow-covered lanes and reduced visibility. Road conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly after sunset and remain hazardous before sunrise Saturday.

Snow and mixed precipitation taper late Saturday morning into early afternoon, but slick spots may linger into midday. The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Saturday.
