Utah, Colorado Brace for Severe Thunderstorms with 2” Hail

Denver, CO – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Utah and Colorado, posing a significant risk of large hail and severe winds.

According to the NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center, the watch extends to eastern Utah, western Colorado, northwest New Mexico, and parts of southern Wyoming until 7 PM MDT Friday. Meteorologists predict thunderstorms will continue to develop into the evening hours, with hail potentially reaching up to 2 inches in diameter.

The severe weather alert also warns of damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph. The areas most at risk include Salt Lake City, Grand Junction, and Vernal. Residents in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions, secure loose outdoor items, and stay indoors during the storm.
