Salt Lake City, UT – Hot temperatures will return to the area Sunday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing warnings for dangerous heat. Temperatures across the Wasatch Front and Tooele Valleys, as well as the Great Salt Lake Desert, are expected to rise back to around 100°F. The Utah Valley, eastern Juab and Millard counties, and the Sanpete and Sevier Valleys will see high temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100°F.
According to the NWS, these extreme temperatures will impact anyone without effective cooling or adequate hydration. Locations such as Eastern Box Elder County, the Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains, Northern Wasatch Front, Salt Lake Valley, and Tooele and Rush Valleys are among those expected to experience the dangerous heat.
Temperatures up to 101°F are forecast across the region, with nighttime recovery expected to be poor. The NWS advises residents to hydrate, wear light clothing, take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, and shift outdoor activities away from peak heat hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
